What is Classified as a Workplace Dispute?

In its most basic form, a workplace dispute involves the violation of one’s workplace rights. An example of this is an employer who dismisses an employee because they made a complaint about their current wages or entitlements.
When it comes to claims that involve dismissal, there are strict timeframes that must be followed. If you believe you have been unfairly dismissed and you are eligible to file a claim, then you must lodge your claim within 21 days of the dismissal taking place. What Happens After I Submit a General Protection or Unfair Dismissal Claim?
Once you have completed the required paperwork and filed it with the relevant registry, it will then typically be forwarded to the employer for a response. Their response must be filed within 3 business days and detail whether they agree or disagree with the facts presented, and if they oppose the remedy sought by the employee. After this, the application will generally be listed for a conciliation conference before a member of the Commission. This provides the opportunity for resolution to occur between the employer and employee.
